Primary Functions:

  • Develop a culture of high performance and employee engagement by inspiring, developing, and motivating internal talent.  Facilitate good discussions with employees in order to understand their professional goals and aspirations.  Create an environment of open communication that fosters upward feedback and suggestions.  Make well informed decisions, demonstrate initiative, exhibit autonomy and execute on organization initiatives.
  • Act as project technical lead on projects. Employ manual and automated tools effectively in the design process.
  • Act as customer technical liaison, using customer contacts to develop new product proposals. Seen as a leader within the engineering group in the development of new product concepts, the design process, and product verification and validation. Understand FDA and other regulatory requirements for product and component design and validation, conduct design projects in compliance with regulations.
  • Lead strategic planning relating to product development and engineering capabilities.
  • Stay current with relevant industry developments, seek training if necessary. Provide mentoring / coaching to design group to develop engineering skills. Identify and implement changes to the Curbell Quality Management System and other processes to improve the effectiveness of the design engineering department. Create documentation for internal and external use.
  • Pursue and maintain technical and strategic relationships with business partners, suppliers, and external sources of engineering services. Able to translate external and internal customer concerns and requirements to technical specifications. Able to resolve customer issues.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering is required; a Master of Science in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior engineering role is preferred. Must possess broad and in-depth engineering knowledge, including the use of design analysis techniques and tools. Knowledgeable in materials, engineering technology, and problem solving. Employee development and mentoring experience required.

  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience required

  • Solidworks experience required.
